About Neuropsychology

What is a Neuropsychologist?

A neuropsychologist is a licensed psychologist specializing in the area of brain-behavior relationships. Although a neuropsychologist has a doctoral degree in psychology, he or she does not just focus on emotional or psychological problems.  The neuropsychologist has additional training in the specialty field of neuropsychology. That means a neuropsychologist has extensive knowledge of neuroanatomy, brain functioning, brain injury or disease, and neuropsychological assessment.

What is a School Neuropsychologist?

A school neuropsychologist is a certified school psychologist specializing in the area of brain-behavior relationships. Not all school neuropsychologists hold a doctoral degree as Dr. Diebolt does.  The school neuropsychologist has extensive knowledge of neuropsychology, such as neuroanatomy, brain functioning, brain injury or disease, and neuropsychological assessment, as well as extensive knowledge of special education, evaluation and programming in the public schools. A school neuropsychologist can practice in the public schools or, in Dr. Diebolt’s case, may also engage in private practice if also licensed by the state to do so.
